with care and consistency
The kitchen is the heart of our hospitality
It is where the work of the fields, the garden, and the people who care for them comes together at the table.
We cook with what the land offers, when it offers it: seasonal vegetables, cereals, olive oil, aromatic herbs, wild edible plants, and ingredients carefully sourced from local producers. Our recipes are rooted in rural Tuscan tradition—the cuisine of farmers who, with very little at their disposal, created dishes full of character, flavor, and intelligence.
Cooking at Il Rigo is an act of care for the land and its rhythms, care for the people who cultivate it, and care for the time we spend together.
Meals are moments to slow down, to share, and to reconnect—with others and with ourselves.
Our kitchen is not fixed in time. It is a living tradition, passed down and gently adapted from one generation to the next,
guided by a simple principle: respect for the journey food takes before it reaches the plate.

The Breakfast
For breakfast you will find a selection of sweet and savory products.
The specialties we offer include local charcuterie, Pienza sheep cheese, homemade cakes and cookies, baked with our organic stone milled flour, and homemade jams to go with our sourdough bread.
Every day you will find a choice of organic muesli and cereals, natural yogurt and fresh fruits.
In summer, when they are in season, we prepare grilled zucchini, eggplants and fresh tomatoes.
Our products are entirely local, organic and homemade from scratch.
We offer a small range of high-quality products, rather than too many, industrialized options!

Dinner
We offer a 4-course tasting menu that changes daily.
Our cooking is traditional Tuscan cuisine, and we use vegetables from our vegetable garden, grains and flour from our farm, and seasonal and local products.
An impressive variety of Tuscan wine is available for dinner.
You can ask for advice from Lorenza, who personally selects from and updates our collection. She’ll be enthusiastic to let you discover the great wine from this region.
Our menus always include a meat course; however, we are happy to accommodate guests with food intolerances, by preparing vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free alternatives by request.
Dinner is served in the dining room, converted from the old barn, and, in summer, under the pergola with a panoramic view of the Val d'Orcia!
Reservation is required
The dinner costs 40€ per person
(still water and coffee included, wine and spirits excluded).
Children from 4 to 12 years old pay 20€. Babies under 3 years don’t pay.

At the end of the course, all the participants will sit around the table to enjoy their home-cooked meal together!
Everyone will get a copy of the recipes prepared during the class and additional technical tips.
